You may never have had a panic attack, however, you avoid places or situations or groups of people because you are afraid of how people will judge you or be critical of you.

You worry about being ridiculed or embarassed for doing things that most people don’t really worry that much about.

You may avoid the following situations:

Eating in public places

Shaking someone’s hand

Blushing in public

Writing or signing your name in the presence of another

Bumping into someone you know

Being watched at work

Taking exams

Sitting in any kind of group

Going to parties or social functions

If your fears of embarrassment cause you to avoid situations or people, and interfere with your life, you may be suffering from social anxiety.
