The focus of counselling for me is to connect the mind, body and spirit in order to feel more empowered and more control over the choices we make.

My 16 years experience includes the following:

Extensive trauma work with adults and children

Anxiety and stress reduction

Couple and relationship counselling

Psychiatric diagnosis and assessment, including 1 year’s internship at a psychiatric hospital

Psychometric testing, psychological and medico-legal reports

3 years employment counselling

Chronic pain management

Coping with disabilities and caregiving

Training:

MA in Clinical Psychology

1 year Post graduate studies in Marriage and Family 

Self-regulation Therapy (SRT) and Somatic Experiencing. This is a body-centered technique for reducing or eliminating the effects of Trauma on the nervous system. The technique focuses attention on the physical effects of emotions, and assists us to clear the nervous system. It is based on current research in physiology.

Techniques:

After an initial assessment and history taking, I might use any or all of the following depending on the specific needs of the individual

Self-regulation therapy/Somatic Experiencing to reduce the effects of trauma on the body and mind

Working with early relationships and repetitive patterns developed from these and other experiences (Object Relations)

Cognitive techniques for current effective functioning

Meditation, grounding and breathing techniques
