anxiety An ANXIETY DISORDER is not a character flaw or a weakness. More importantly, feeling anxious is not your fault. There are 8 different types of anxiety disorders. Click on the anxiety disorder below for a detailed description: Generalized Anxiety Disorder stress Contrary to what many think, stress is not something that happens TO US. Rather it’s a response in the body to the events we encounter in our lives. These events are what we call stressors. Stress responses trigger in us what is called the “fight or flight” response. This is a normal, adaptive response of the body that prepares us to fight for our life or flee. It allows us to react quickly to the danger we perceive. A good example is when we get distracted driving and suddenly realize that the car ahead of us is stopping. Without any thought we immediately brake.
